Dr. Lisa Niles's inability to take "no" or "never again" for an answer may turn out to be the thing that finally makes this character and her storyline worth watching. I really hope General Hospital is planning on taking the psychotic ex-girlfriend route with her because it would finally give me a reason to care about this otherwise boring triangle. Not to mention the fact that it would teach Patrick a valuable lesson of why it is a bad idea to cheat on his wife.
The crazy, unstable ex-girlfriend plot almost always makes for an entertaining soap storyline. In fact some of the most memorable performances from soaps have been given in the context of demented exes seeking revenge or vindication of some sort. I can still recall many of the scenes in which Cynthia Watros portrayed Josh Lewis's jilted wife Annie on Guiding Light. She made a near seamless transition from mild-mannered nurse to Josh and Reva's worst nightmare overnight. And who could forget Annie Parisse as Julia Lindsey on ATWT? She transcended unstable when she kidnapped Jack Snyder and strapped him in a horse sling as part of her efforts to become impregnated by him. The precedence set by these storylines makes me wonder what torture Lisa might have in store for Patrick if she doesn't get what she wants. After all she is a doctor and has access to a variety of instruments and medications. Of course considering the current state of General Hospital's storylines it is more likely that any revenge Lisa might seek will involve Emma.

Paula,
ReplyDeleteI think Patrick should 'fess up with Robin right away and then the two of them should trap Lisa so that she gets help. Clearly she's gone off the deep end, although why is not evident. You'd think Steve would be keeping a better eye on her.
Peggy
Hi Peggy!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think the only way Patrick is going to be able to do any kind of damage control is to tell Robin the truth. He's giving Lisa way too much power over his life. As for Steve, I think after he figured out what she was up to he just decided to wash his hands of her and now he's doing his best to ignore her. Men obviously underestimate what Lisa is capable of, which is usually how it works in the real world too. lol!
Paula
Paula,
ReplyDeleteIt's just creepy no matter how you look at it. It even got my daughter interested in GH again, although she thinks Patrick is a jerk and Lisa's just "troubled." Oy!
Peggy
Hi Peggy!
ReplyDeleteIt is their most interesting storyline right now and I never thought I would say that about this triangle. Like I said her being crazy is the only thing that is making it interesting.
