My New Obsession: L.A. Macabre

I can't believe it has almost been five years since I first told you about the web series L.A. Macabre .  As you may recall, L.A. Macabre is very much a show within a show, where the main characters have a web series called L.A. Macabre, which explores notorious, real-life crime stories in Los Angeles.  The focus of that show soon shifts to a former cult called "The New Family," bringing a lot of unwanted attention to Ryan, Jamie, and Colin, the show's creators.  This ultimately leads to Jamie's mysterious disappearance in the last episode of season 1. Ryan Bartley (Jamie) in Season 2 of L.A. Macabre Recently, I had the privilege of getting a sneak peek of L.A. Macabre's long-awaited second season and all I can say is WOW! As impressed as I was by the show's first season, season two surpassed all of my expectations. Everything is bigger this season - the show's settings, the storyline, and the exceptionally talented cast. I particul...

Sean Kanan's Studio City Brings Together Daytime Heavy Hitters!

Veteran soap actor Sean Kanan is launching a new web series this week called "Studio City." The show, which is described as 'a love letter to soaps' brings together many of daytime's brightest, including Tristan Rogers, Sarah Brown, Patrika Darbo, and Carolyn Hennessy. The entire first season of "Studio City" will begin streaming on Amazon Prime December 20th. On a side note, I will be chatting with Sean tomorrow on my show Paula's Soapbox LIVE at 6|5c 3pm PST .   The interview will stream directly on  YouTube and will be available to watch in its entirety following the LIVE broadcast.

Paula's Soapbox LIVE: Kathleen Gati Interview

As you may have seen on Instagram , Facebook , and twitter I had scheduled a YouTube LIVE interview with Kathleen Gati (Dr. Obrecht, GH; Margaret Cranston, Ladies of the Lake: Return to Avalon). Unfortunately due to an unusual amount of technical difficulties we couldn't do the LIVE video chat as planned. We did, however, move the interview to twitter for an impromptu Q&A. In case you missed it or aren't on twitter, I have saved the tweets so you can see them!

Paula's Pick: Cobra Kai

It is rare that I get excited about a new show these days. There is so much content to view on television and online, and unfortunately most of it is not worth watching. So when a show comes along that I believe in I have to share it with everyone. In case you haven't heard, YouTube now has a streaming service with original programming called YouTube Premium, what you may know as YouTube Red. Like Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix, YouTube Premium charges a monthly fee. In fact so many of these streaming platforms seem to be popping up I probably never would have checked out YouTube Premium if not for all the buzz surrounding its show Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai, as you may have heard, is based on the original Karate Kid movie from 1984. This is not, however, your typical reboot and it is not a reimagining of the story we all grew up with. Instead, Cobra Kai broadens our perspective of the Karate Kid characters and the possible motivations behind their actions. ...

NEW WEBSERIES ALERT: Personal Space

There is an exciting new web series on the horizon called Personal Space! It is a sic-fi dramedy set in - you guessed it - space! This is an ambitious and ground breaking project which features an all star cast with impressive credits under their belt, including Battlestar Galactica, Sons of Anarchy, and the web series Emma Approved. In Personal Space, the therapy sessions of astronauts are broadcast as reality television without their consent or knowledge. I imagine it to be a little like The Truman Show, except in space. Personal Space will also include a character who is disabled. While not a new concept, this character will learn to live with his disability rather than experience a miraculous recovery down the road.  Julia Aks as Stephanie Park in Personal Space  Women will also be prominent in this web series, from the writing team to the cast, which is about 50% female.    Nicki Clyne as Gail Gartner in Personal Space Vivi Thai...
