My New Obsession: L.A. Macabre

I can't believe it has almost been five years since I first told you about the web series L.A. Macabre .  As you may recall, L.A. Macabre is very much a show within a show, where the main characters have a web series called L.A. Macabre, which explores notorious, real-life crime stories in Los Angeles.  The focus of that show soon shifts to a former cult called "The New Family," bringing a lot of unwanted attention to Ryan, Jamie, and Colin, the show's creators.  This ultimately leads to Jamie's mysterious disappearance in the last episode of season 1. Ryan Bartley (Jamie) in Season 2 of L.A. Macabre Recently, I had the privilege of getting a sneak peek of L.A. Macabre's long-awaited second season and all I can say is WOW! As impressed as I was by the show's first season, season two surpassed all of my expectations. Everything is bigger this season - the show's settings, the storyline, and the exceptionally talented cast. I particul...

Trent Dawson's "The Six" Headed to the Festival Circuit

If you have been following this blog for a while you may recall that last August I chatted with As the World Turns Alum Trent Dawson (Henry) about the film he was working on called The Six . The film, which is based off of his play The F, has now been completed and is headed to the festival circuit. Donations for The Six are still being accepted, which will help bring the film to the big screen. Interview: Catching Up with Nashville's Riley Smith

Even if you haven't heard the name Riley Smith you have undoubtedly seen him. Smith is a multi-talented performer who has been in everything from Disney's Motocrossed to *ABC's Nashville and can currently be seen in the Fox series Proven Innocent. When he's not acting, Smith is hard at work building a promising music career. I recently had the chance to talk with him about this and how working on the show Nashville impacted this new path: You have a very ambitious plan of releasing a new song and video every month in 2019. What made you decide to do this?  It has been ambitious and a lot more work than I anticipated. The idea stemmed from people's attention span in this day and age. I wanted each song to be new, fresh, and have a chance to get the attention it deserves - instead of having to pick one single off an album, why not treat each song like a single? Because they are. They are their own song, their own story and they deserve their own attention. ...

Guiding Light Alum Morgan Englund Releases New Music Video

If you follow this blog and/or my LIVE interviews with any regularity, you may recall that last year I chatted with Morgan Englund about his crowdfunding campaign to make a music video for his song Homeward Bound (A Firefighter's Song). Englund was a firefighter and paramedic for years before deciding to pursue his long-held dream of becoming a singer/songwriter and musician. Homeward Bound is a tribute to Englund's fellow first responders and marks his first video in what will surely be a successful career in the music industry.  Regarding his song, Englund writes:  I hung up my axe and stethescope. But I offer this song to first responders everywhere. You do an amazing job, you sacrifice way more than the average person realizes. I will ever be proud and grateful to have been counted among you. I chatted with Englund just days before the official video release and you can watch that interview here: The video for Homeward Boun...

Paula's Pick: Cobra Kai

It is rare that I get excited about a new show these days. There is so much content to view on television and online, and unfortunately most of it is not worth watching. So when a show comes along that I believe in I have to share it with everyone. In case you haven't heard, YouTube now has a streaming service with original programming called YouTube Premium, what you may know as YouTube Red. Like Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix, YouTube Premium charges a monthly fee. In fact so many of these streaming platforms seem to be popping up I probably never would have checked out YouTube Premium if not for all the buzz surrounding its show Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai, as you may have heard, is based on the original Karate Kid movie from 1984. This is not, however, your typical reboot and it is not a reimagining of the story we all grew up with. Instead, Cobra Kai broadens our perspective of the Karate Kid characters and the possible motivations behind their actions. ...
