CO77X Revisited: GH

In the weeks leading up to the introduction of the Franco character on General Hospital, viewers were treated to countless montages featuring the mysterious CO77X graffiti. Since then there has been non-stop speculation about the meaning behind this tag and how it may affect the course of the show. Recently there have been fewer CO77X sightings, but there have been several episodes featuring Franco so I thought it would be a good time to revisit CO77X in an effort to unlock this mystery.

This week Jason received a painting from Franco listing the seven deadly sins of vanity, envy, gluttony, lust, wrath, greed, and sloth. Seeing this made me wonder if one of the "7's" in CO77X represents these seven deadly sins. This may seem a bit obvious, but looking back on the scene where Franco is shooting red paint balls at the pictures of people close to Jason, there are seven people on the canvas besides Jason. Taking this one step further it seems logical to assume that Franco's agenda may include manipulating the people in Jason's life to represent these seven sins, with Maxie clearly representing lust.

In this clip Jason receives Franco's latest work of art.

  1. Paula,

    Good analogy but who do you think would represent gluttony? Carly and her cheese puffs?

  2. Hi Peggy!

    LOL! Could be! I wondered if maybe he might work a different angle with gluttony and perhaps sloth. Like maybe someone could be considered a glutton for things other than food.Just a thought, I'm still trying to figure out what possible sin everyone could represent and how Franco might make them exhibit that. Any thoughts?

  3. I could only pick out Sam, Sonny, Carly, Spinelli and Maxie.

    Based on Franco's interaction with everyone so far, I can see

    Sonny = wrath
    Carly = gluttony
    Spinelli = envy
    Maxie = lust
    Sam = vanity
    ? = greed
    ? = sloth

    Sorry can't be more illuminating here.

  4. Hi Peggy!

    Michael could be wrath because of Claudia and Sonny could be greed. I'm not sure about sloth though. I'm actually not sure how I would categorize Morgan at all because he isn't on enough for me to know much about his personality. Michael could also fall under the category of envy because he idolizes Sonny. This is fun, kind of like a puzzle. lol!

  5. Paula,

    Yes, I thought of Michael as wrath when I was removing cat from lap so I could turn off the p.c. and go to bed. I've got the claw marks to prove it, too.

    So then
    Michael - Wrath
    Sonny - Greed
    Claudia - Envy
    Carly - Gluttony
    Maxie - Lust
    Sam - Vanity
    Spinelli - Sloth? Because when he wears his hair in his eyes he looks like one (and when I say that I mean in a cute, attractive, cuddly way)

  6. Hi Peggy!

    Ouch! :) LOL! I love Spinelli, but I totally get what you are saying about the sloth thing. Also if you didn't know anything about his personality and just saw him, his personal style would immediately make you think "slacker" because he has that just-rolled-out-of-bed look. lol! I also thought that Carly might fall under the sloth category too because she is so dependent on Jason. I'm still having trouble with categorizing Morgan though. Like I said they don't show him enough for me to have a firm handle on his personality. Of course I guess it depends on how someone like Franco might perceive him.

  7. Hi Paula,

    I read this post last Thursday and I thought back to it again today while watching GH when Spinelli & Maxie were looking at the painting.
    I think you're theory is really interesting and very creative. I vote Nikolas as the sloth!

  8. Hi Michele!

    Thanks for commenting and for the compliment!Yeah we should see very soon whether my theory has any merit, or if it is just the product of an overactive imagination! lol! And you are right, out of all the people in Port Charles Nikolas would definitely be considered the sloth! :)

10 Ways General Hospital Could Improve

I doubt if I'm alone in saying that there is a lot wrong with General Hospital these days. While it continues to be one of my favorite soaps there are many changes I would make immediately if I had the power. Below is a list of the top ten suggestions I have for the way the show could improve. 1. The Claire/Sonny storyline needs to be dropped. It isn't working. Their conversations are boring and the context of their relationship is, well...icky. 2. Amp up Lisa's craziness. Despite my earlier distaste for a Robin/Patrick/Lisa triangle, the obsessed ex-girlfriend angle is working. It's interesting and very soapy. 3. Ronnie needs to be established as either a cop with a chip on his shoulder or someone who works for Franco. So far I haven't been able to tell whether Ronnie falls more on the side of good or bad because this character hasn't been clearly defined. 4. Brenda's life away from Port Charles and the people that surround it need to become an int...

Darkness and Light: GH

Like many General Hospital fans, I watch the show everyday in a blissful state of denial, never acknowledging the fact that Sonny and Jason are criminals. I find it easy to denounce Mac when he is urging Maxie to stay away from Spinelli, and I cheer for Diane whenever she keeps someone from the Corinthos organization from going to prison. However, as I watched the events of the week unfold, knowing that they were inevitably going to lead to Dante's shooting, my rose-colored glasses came off and I quickly snapped back to reality. I found myself repulsed watching Jason standing in the church during Josslyn's christening, knowing that he had just signed Dante's death certificate without giving it a second thought. I was even repulsed by Spinelli, whose detective work set everything into motion. Moreover, I was sickened by his cavalier attitude regarding Dante's imminent demise, and the fact that he never showed an ounce of remorse or regret until Maxie told him that Lulu h...

Crazy Loves Company: GH

If ever there was a storyline or a character over utilized it would be the saga of Lisa Niles. I am both mentally and physically exhausted by the constant back and forth between Lisa & Robin, Lisa & Patrick, Robin & Patrick, and Robin & everyone else. Now new doctor Terrell has been thrown into the mix as another man powerless against Lisa's charms. It is difficult enough at this point to watch Lisa create a path of destruction all by herself, but now that she has help I'm not sure I have the energy to watch any more of her schemes. Lisa had the potential to be an intriguing soap villain; and for a while it seemed like she may have had the potential to be a redeemable villain (see Miss Diagnosis ). However her crazy behavior as well as the motivation behind this behavior is too much to grasp, particularly for someone who supposedly passed her psych evaluation at Shady Brook. Moreover it doesn't make sense that she could talk someone like Terrell into helping...
