If there is one thing I enjoy more than watching soaps it is watching soaps during the week of Christmas, particularly on Christmas Eve. I suppose it has something to do with the fact that while soap families are celebrating onscreen, I am immersed in my own traditions, often making preparations for family reunions as a soap opera plays in the background. For this reason many of my Christmas memories are inextricably tied to watching soaps. And since I have been watching them since childhood, these memories are in abundance. There really is no other genre quite like this one, one that understands history, family, and traditions, and takes at least one day out of the year to showcase their importance through the eyes of viewers. And with that in mind I wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas!
After months of allowing herself to be deceived and manipulated by Nicole and Stefano so that she could keep her baby's adoption intact, only to find out that said baby wasn't hers because her baby had died, one would think that Mia would have enough drama to last a lifetime. Instead it seems that she has picked up a few bad habits from Nicole because she has turned to manipulating Gabi in order to stake her claim on Chad, someone she didn't seem to want a few weeks ago. As if the Mia character wasn't irritating enough already, this newly calculative Mia is actually making me feel sorry for Gabi, which only makes her that much more irritating. I was stunned that she used Nicole's hearing as an opportunity to drive a wedge between Chad and Gabi, the same hearing that they were discussing her baby's death and the kidnapping of Will's baby sister. In doing this she not only undermined Will's importance in her life, but Sydney and Grace's as well...and p...
Paula,
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas! Merry Holidays! I finally watched yesterday's GH episode (kid's back from college what do you do?). All I can say is watch out for that mistletoe!
Peggy
Hi, Paula!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more! There's something about wathching the soaps during Christmas week, Christmas Eve AND New Year's Eve.
Merry Christmas to you, my soap friend, and to all the other participants of this board!

Hi Paula!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Christmas and got everything you wished for! :)
Hi Paula!
ReplyDeleteI've been MIA from the soap blogs - mine too - for the past week....tis the season, eh?
I like your nostalgic soapy Christmas remembrances - and I think all us lovers of the genre have fond memories of soaps being tied to every stage of our lives.
I hope you and all your readers had a Merry Christmas and that you have a very happy and prosperous New Year!
Michele
Hi Michele!
ReplyDeleteYes, tis the season to be busy! :) A lot of the storylines have kind of been in suspension the past two weeks too with all the pre-empted episodes and those reserved for the holidays. Hopefully the momentum will pick back up next week though.
I hope you had a Merry Christmas too and that you have a very happy and healthy new year! Looking forward to reading your posts in the coming year! :)
I agree that it is wonderful watching soaps during the holidays, but I was very disappointed in GH's holiday episodes this year...especially thier Christmas Eve episode. I had been looking forward to it since Thanksgiving, and it totally did not deliver. It was very boring to watch. I know there is not a lot of happy things going on right now, but come on. The whole thing with Mac and Alexis getting stuck...bleh. Even Maxie and Spinelli were boring. I could go on forever, but I'll just say that I was very disappointed.

ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous!
I agree, the GH Christmas episode could have been better. I thought last year's was really good with Spixie and Santa, typical soap Christmas episode. Here's a link to a clip:
