Two of A Kind: GH

As I watched Monday's General Hospital it occurred to me that there may be a potential pairing that perhaps the writers have not considered yet, Sonny and Liz. Think about it, they both seem to be completely out of touch with reality, which may be enough to convince them that they could actually have a functional relationship. In fact they may very well be the most delusional people in all of Port Charles. Liz thinking that her connection with Lucky might be enough for him to forgive her, and Sonny thinking his connection with Dante might be enough to earn his forgiveness.

Still not convinced that these two are a perfect match? I have formulated a list of their compatibilities just in case.

1.) They are both incapable of taking responsibility for their actions because there always seem to be extenuating circumstances for their mistakes.

2.) They always manage to hurt their children without even trying.

3.) They are both impulsive and never think of the consequences of their actions.

4.) Liz's children have different fathers. Sonny's children have different mothers.

5.) They both have a difficult time forgiving people who have hurt them, but they expect to be forgiven immediately after causing someone else pain.

6.) They are usually able to charm or manipulate their way out of sticky situations.

7.) Despite their mistakes they have both managed to keep people in their life that will gladly defend their actions no matter what they are.

8.) They keep repeating the same mistakes, expecting a different outcome.

9.) They both seem to be attracted to some form of danger, despite how it may affect their children.

...and finally

10.) They are both incredibly skilled at playing the victim.

Of course this entire post has been an exercise in jest, but imagine what it would be like if these two actually became involved. Their relationship would undoubtedly cause friction between Sonny and Jason. And there would obviously be more than a little tension between Sonny and the Spencer clan, given the Lucky and Liz connection. Actually the more I think about it a Sonny and Liz pairing may provide some interesting storyline material...something to think about.

  1. Paula,

Great analogy! The only thing I could add is that I had my mind on Liz and Luke, since he feels sorry for her and if she would stop crying all over the place, this would be the ultimate revenge on Lucky's abandonment.

But Liz and Sonny would certainly shake up everyone.

  2. Hi Peggy!

LOL! You know the Luke/Liz thing actually ran through my mind the other day when they were talking. At this point I'm not sure I would be surprised at anything that happens with Liz. I can't say I am ready for her breakdown. I am already tired of her crying all the time. I wish she would just pick herself up, acknowledge what she has done and move on.

  3. Hi Paula
love your blog! all the points you hit on Liz and Sonny were so true!

I have a request to make, could the font in your blog be in white because of the dark background? The black font is making it hard to read for me.

    thanks!

  4. Great thought out blog Paula, but IMO Liz needs to be alone for a very long time. She needs to be a single mother first and actually put her children before herself; that in itself would be a major accomplishment for her.

  5. Paula,

After yesterday's episode I thought oh no, not Ethan and Elizabeth. Also nice to see Helena again, although what that entails other than the "unknown Cassidine" plot that dwindled when Franco showed up, I haven't a clue.

I'm getting sick of Elizabeth crying too. In real life, you'd think she'd be sobbing in private like the rest of us do. The public displays of tears seems to be getting on everyone's nerves.

Back to the who-should-Liz-hook-up-with-next theory board. I guess Luke is out, eh?

  6. OK, time for me to weigh in. I agree, I could see a Sonny/Liz pairing. At the same time, I wonder about Ethan hanging around in Liz's orb. Doesn't seem like he has much going on otherwise and appears to be overdue for a new romantic interest :)
Given Luke's disassociation with Nicholas, a Luke/Liz pairing would be a stretch in my opinion, but hey, we're talking soapland, here. No one has mentioned Jason. Any thoughts there?

All About Mia: DOOL

After months of allowing herself to be deceived and manipulated by Nicole and Stefano so that she could keep her baby's adoption intact, only to find out that said baby wasn't hers because her baby had died, one would think that Mia would have enough drama to last a lifetime. Instead it seems that she has picked up a few bad habits from Nicole because she has turned to manipulating Gabi in order to stake her claim on Chad, someone she didn't seem to want a few weeks ago. As if the Mia character wasn't irritating enough already, this newly calculative Mia is actually making me feel sorry for Gabi, which only makes her that much more irritating. I was stunned that she used Nicole's hearing as an opportunity to drive a wedge between Chad and Gabi, the same hearing that they were discussing her baby's death and the kidnapping of Will's baby sister. In doing this she not only undermined Will's importance in her life, but Sydney and Grace's as well...and p

Bad Goodbye: GH

Words cannot express how much I hate the way GH is writing Steve Burton out of the show. I realize his leaving sort of came as a surprise, but in my opinion they could have given him a better send off than the one he is getting. It feels extremely rushed and quite frankly a little convoluted. First of all we have Bernie with his sudden hand-wringing over something that supposedly happened almost a year ago; and he just has to meet Jason on the night he finally reunites with Sam...on the pier no less.  And don't even get me started on how Joe Scully and "Duke Lavery" are involved in all of this. Up until a few months ago Joe was an antiques dealer working in a little known shop that probably wasn't even being used as a front. In addition there is no way Jason would ever allow himself to be shot in the back. He would have looked around the pier to make sure he wasn't walking into an ambush before ever trying to talk to Bernie. However the most upsetting thing about
