At Its Best: DOOL

It seems redundant and rather unimaginative that all my blog posts regarding the storylines on Days of Our Lives should be about how enjoyable the show is right now and how much it reminds me of how soaps used to be; but what else can be said about a show that not only continues to surprise me but keeps me entertained in a way that doesn't compromise the integrity of the characters?

The fallout regarding EJ's involvement in Sydney's kidnapping has been especially riveting, which only proves that this fallout should have come much sooner than it has. Of course if yesterday's episode is any indication it might have just been worth the wait. As predicted the show has crafted this storyline in such a way that EJ is almost as much a victim to his actions as anyone else. I tried to resist feeling any sympathy toward him for a long time, but after James Scott's (EJ) emotionally complex scenes the past few days I can't help but be unapologetically sympathetic. This is the result of great writing and acting coming together to tell a rich and colorful story that showcases character growth and development in a believable and honest way. If only Days of Our Lives could bottle the writing, acting, tone, and pacing of yesterday's episode every soap would be in much better shape.

Could Guiding Light Alum Stephanie Gatschet Be Looking to Return to Daytime?

I stumbled upon something interesting while scrolling through Instagram last night. It was a comment posted in response to a General Hospital video. The video was reposted by actress Laura Wright (Carly, GH; ex-Cassie,GL). The response came from actress Stephanie Gatschet.

You may recall that in addition to playing Madison North on All My Children, Gatschet played Cassie's daughter, Tammy, on Guiding Light.

Gatschet's comment to Wright was "I miss creating melodrama...keep an eye out for a good role for little ol' me. I wanna play!"  (Check out the screenshot below)

So could Gatschet be eyeing a return to daytime? How cool would it be to see her starring opposite Laura Wright again?

Gatschet most recently starred in the web series Misguided.

Soap Faves Kassie DePaiva and Nathan Purdee Star in New Film Killian & the Comeback Kids

Kassie DePaiva (Blair, OLTL; Eve, DOOL) and Nathan Purdee (ex-Nathan Hastings, Y&R) are starring in a new film called Killian and the Comeback Kids, which was written and directed by Purdee's son Taylor.

The film, about a man who forms a band with locals from his hometown in order to play at a huge music festival, has already been shot. However, an Indiegogo campaign has been launched to help pay for post-production costs.

There are only 3 days left in the campaign with plenty of perks still up for grabs. For example a $150 donation will get you a personal phone call from Kassie DePaiva! Other perks include: social media shoutouts from cast members, signed behind the scenes photos, signed instruments, & much more!
