Jack Is Back! : DOOL

Early Tuesday morning I noticed several tweets regarding Matthew Ashford's DOOL return. And although I kind of suspected he might come back to the show one day, given that Jack has been mentioned in almost every scene since Melissa Reeves came back, I was still skeptical. This was partially because I could not and have still not been able to confirm that this announcement originated on Ashford's official facebook page, as many claimed. It would appear now, however, that it did considering that news of his return was reported by Soap Opera Digest just hours later.

DOOL also gave me reason to be skeptical of Ashford's return because for months it seemed like the show was trying to discredit Jack, implying that he abandoned his family to go find himself and never looked back. I assumed this was an attempt to get the audience to hate him so that they would be more receptive to the Jennifer/Daniel pairing, because as we all know Jack and Jennifer were among the show's most popular supercouples. In reality I guess all the Jack mentions simply served the purpose of setting up his return and subsequent storyline. While many fans are understandably upset about the way he has been portrayed in recent months, myself included, I have to wonder if things are really as they seem. My theory is that perhaps Jack left to do something he didn't feel safe telling anyone about and that this walk-about was just a cover, a way to protect himself and his family. If this is true it would appear that something went wrong considering that no one has been able to make any kind of contact with him. Since I can't imagine him returning to Salem without reuniting with Jennifer I have to assume he has been in some kind of trouble.

So far details of Ashford's first airdate have not been released. In the meantime, however, you can catch him on the web series The Bay, alongside former DOOL co-stars Mary Beth Evans and Charles Shaughnessy. For all the Jack and Jennifer fans out there, a special treat -

I found the following video clips yesterday morning. They are from the show TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes. Melissa Reeves becomes the target of a prank set up by Matthew Ashford and her husband Scott Reeves, GH's Steve. Enjoy!

  1. Since there are so many people in soap land being held captive I've been wondering if this whole story about Jack going off to find himself is some lie. I don't like the way they've been treating Jack although I'm kind of torn since I do like Daniel and Jen but I think I'd like them better as friends instead of more since I've always adored Jack especially when he's being played by Matt.

Scott and Missy are such an adorable couple.

  2. Hi Bard Girl!

Yeah that's what I was thinking. DOOL is famous for having people being imprisoned or kidnapped, brains switched around, etc. I hope Jack's brain wasn't switched with someone else's. LOL!

And I agree I think Daniel and Jennifer might be better as friends. I think they may just be each other's shoulder right now.

And yes Scott and Missy are so cute together! :)

  3. I'm looking forward to seeing him again in Salem. The last time I saw him he was on for about thirty seconds in an episode of 90210.

Daniel and Jen really aren't ready to get involved with anyone since Jen's still in love with Jack. Daniel still cares about Chloe too so I'm hoping they'll just end up as friends.

Could Guiding Light Alum Stephanie Gatschet Be Looking to Return to Daytime?

I stumbled upon something interesting while scrolling through Instagram last night. It was a comment posted in response to a General Hospital video. The video was reposted by actress Laura Wright (Carly, GH; ex-Cassie,GL). The response came from actress Stephanie Gatschet.

You may recall that in addition to playing Madison North on All My Children, Gatschet played Cassie's daughter, Tammy, on Guiding Light.

Gatschet's comment to Wright was "I miss creating melodrama...keep an eye out for a good role for little ol' me. I wanna play!"  (Check out the screenshot below)

So could Gatschet be eyeing a return to daytime? How cool would it be to see her starring opposite Laura Wright again?

Gatschet most recently starred in the web series Misguided.

GL Alum Launches Indiegogo Campaign for Music Video!

UPDATE: Morgan Englund's Indiegogo campaign is now 76% funded. To meet his goal, $2,418 will need to be donated by June 2nd.

To hear Morgan talk about his song Homeward Bound, be sure to check out my interview with him from last week at https://youtu.be/5Dyq4Tc7H-Y

Guiding Light alum Morgan Englund (Dylan Lewis) has launched an Indiegogo campaign to help fund a music video for a song he wrote called "Homeward Bound (A Firefighter's Song)", a fitting title and song for the actor who has worked as both a firefighter and paramedic.

Englund is hoping to raise $10,000 for the creation of the video, which will be directed by Andrea Shreeman. So far $3,199 has been donated to the campaign with a month left to go. Numerous perks are up for grabs for those wishing to contribute to the video's funding. $5 will get you a thank you shout out on social media from Englund, while the biggest perk, at $1500, will earn you an executive producer credit and a VIP visit to the set.
