Control Issues: GH

As I watched Wednesday's General Hospital it occurred to me that the only person Michael should be living with is Jason. Michael's behavior has been out of control for a while now and Jason seems to be the only one who knows how to grab his attention for even a second. And even though Carly has finally decided to do the right thing and tell the truth about what happened to Claudia, it isn't going to accomplish much unless she can get through to Michael. With his remorseless attitude, no one is going to believe that Claudia's murder was justifiable homicide. Of course in order for Carly to be able to get through to Michael, she is going to have to stop letting him get away with everything. After all that is one reason his behavior continues to get worse. I am constantly astounded by how much freedom Michael is allowed to have despite his actions. And every time he leaves the house following an argument about why he should be allowed to join the mob at 16, I am shocked that no one says "Hey get back here I'm not finished with you!" Soap teens have it so easy.

Obviously Michael's behavior isn't entirely Carly's fault. In fact, Carly's parenting might be more effective if she had someone to help enforce her decisions since Michael thinks she is clueless about the mob lifestyle, even though he has barely scratched the surface of that lifestyle. Indeed, Carly needs help and from what I have seen so far Jason is the only person in her life who could possibly provide that. Jax is too busy scheming about how to put Sonny behind bars, and Sonny is too busy scheming about how to steal Olivia from Johnny.

  1. GH writers are doing a pretty good job with teen-age angst, as I know from personal experience. I do agree with you though; when Michael left, I do, yelled at the t.v "Get back here, you, she's not finished yet." Very frustrating.
It only complicates things when Michael thinks he's cut out for the mob. With his temper?

  2. Hello, There!

I haven't posted for awhile but I have been "lurking" :)

Just some random thoughts - Bob Guza explains what's behind CO77X in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest (I won't spoil it here)but you can run to the supermarket and browze while in line or there may be something on-line by now.

Secondly, I agree with you, Paula. That showdown between Elizabeth and Rebecca was awesome. I think Natalia played Emily as so meek and mild to the point of boredom. I also find her voice very monotone. Very different from Amber Tamblyn who, of course, played a much younger Emily. But getting back to Rebecca, that's the strongest I've seen Natalia getting into her character yet and it was a good show.

Last, but not least, when I read your post about Michael, the thought crossed my mind about Michael somehow linking up with Franco. How ironic would that be? After all, no one in Jason's circle is supposed to be safe. Suppose that Franco lures them in according to their deadly sin -- which wrath would belong to Michael.

Wow, what a week on GH, but I DO wish Franco were on screen more!

  3. Hi Peggy,

Yeah, I think GH is pretty dialed in to the whole teenage anger thing, I just don't get the parents sometimes. It is like they all say "he/she is 16 I can't tell them what to do anymore". What ever happened to "As long as you are under my roof you'll do what I say"? lol! Of course that would never work with Michael. He has the option of living in at least 3 different houses! lol!

  4. Hi Paula!

I was wondering where you had been lately! :) I haven't seen the Bob Guza/SOD article yet, but I am a subscriber and am expecting my copy any day now. I always seem to get the good ones really late. lol! From what I have read the mystery behind CO77X is supposed to be revealed on tomorrow's episode, but I wonder how much they will actually reveal.

Yeah, I actually felt like for the first time this week we got to see who Rebecca really was. I never really got the character when she first arrived on the show and since then she has acted too much like Emily, but this week I felt like we saw Rebecca.

I agree, I think Michael would definitely be wrath considering the fact that he killed Claudia. And I actually wouldn't put it past him to kill again. If Kiefer was smart he would steer clear of Michael and Kristina both!

All About Mia: DOOL

After months of allowing herself to be deceived and manipulated by Nicole and Stefano so that she could keep her baby's adoption intact, only to find out that said baby wasn't hers because her baby had died, one would think that Mia would have enough drama to last a lifetime. Instead it seems that she has picked up a few bad habits from Nicole because she has turned to manipulating Gabi in order to stake her claim on Chad, someone she didn't seem to want a few weeks ago. As if the Mia character wasn't irritating enough already, this newly calculative Mia is actually making me feel sorry for Gabi, which only makes her that much more irritating. I was stunned that she used Nicole's hearing as an opportunity to drive a wedge between Chad and Gabi, the same hearing that they were discussing her baby's death and the kidnapping of Will's baby sister. In doing this she not only undermined Will's importance in her life, but Sydney and Grace's as well...and p

Bad Goodbye: GH

Words cannot express how much I hate the way GH is writing Steve Burton out of the show. I realize his leaving sort of came as a surprise, but in my opinion they could have given him a better send off than the one he is getting. It feels extremely rushed and quite frankly a little convoluted. First of all we have Bernie with his sudden hand-wringing over something that supposedly happened almost a year ago; and he just has to meet Jason on the night he finally reunites with Sam...on the pier no less.  And don't even get me started on how Joe Scully and "Duke Lavery" are involved in all of this. Up until a few months ago Joe was an antiques dealer working in a little known shop that probably wasn't even being used as a front. In addition there is no way Jason would ever allow himself to be shot in the back. He would have looked around the pier to make sure he wasn't walking into an ambush before ever trying to talk to Bernie. However the most upsetting thing about
